⚙️ Technical Installation

What space requirements are needed for the ground loop installation?
Space requirements depend entirely on the soil type and chosen installation method (horizontal trench or open space). As a strict guideline, the minimum distance between PE-pipes must be 0.8 meters (2.6 ft) to ensure proper thermal regeneration. Vertical boreholes require significantly less surface footprint.
How deep does the ground loop need to be installed?
For horizontal collectors, pipes must be laid at a depth of 1.5 to 2.5 meters (4.9 to 8.2 ft). They should never be installed deeper than 5 meters. If utilizing a vertical borehole system, depths typically range from 50 to 200 meters depending on geological conditions.

🌱 System Requirements

What type of soil is suitable for installation?
Compact and loamy soils are ideal, as they transfer significantly more heat to the brine than loose, sandy soils. The best results are achieved if the pipes are located below the groundwater level. If installing in dry, sandy soils, the calculated pipe length may need to be doubled to achieve the required energy absorption.
What are the power requirements for the GHT ventilation system?
The GHT system is designed for ultra-low power consumption. The unit itself operates on minimal electricity, consuming approximately 40 Watts to circulate the brine, while generating up to 8,000 Watts (8 kW) of passive thermal heating or cooling capacity.
Can the system be integrated with existing ventilation (HRV/ERV)?
Yes, absolutely. GHT modules are specifically designed to act as a pre-conditioning shield for existing or new Heat Recovery (HRV) and Energy Recovery (ERV) ventilation units. They prevent the main ventilation core from freezing in winter and provide highly efficient, free passive cooling during summer.

🔧 Maintenance and Operation

How often does the system need maintenance?
The GHT system is virtually maintenance-free. The primary maintenance required is periodic inspection and replacement of the air filters, depending on outdoor air quality. The EPP housing eliminates condensation and corrosion, and the underground geothermal loop has a virtually unlimited lifespan.
Can I connect GHT to an Air-to-Water Heat Pump instead of a ground loop?
Yes. If drilling a dedicated ground loop is not feasible, GHT units can seamlessly integrate into central Air-to-Water heat pump systems via a standard hydronic buffer tank. Note that in cold climates, proper freeze protection (glycol loop or plate heat exchanger) must be utilized.
